Meet Sarah Wancowicz, PT, DPT, the newest pelvic floor/orthopedic physical therapist at Dynamic Physical Therapy in River North. Sarah earned her Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from Boston University and brings several years of experience across both pelvic health and orthopedics. She treats prenatal and postpartum recovery, urinary and bowel incontinence, acute and chronic pelvic pain, and sexual dysfunction, and her orthopedic background shapes how she approaches all of it. Pelvic floor symptoms rarely exist in isolation, and Sarah looks at the whole picture, including hips, low back, core strength, and how you move, so treatment addresses the cause and not just the symptom. That also means she is equally comfortable treating shoulder, knee, and back injuries, or helping you return to running, lifting, or life with a toddler on your hip. Sarah believes good care starts with listening. She takes time to understand your goals, your routine, and what you have stopped doing because of pain, then builds an individualized, evidence based plan around it. Every session is one on one, so you are never rushed and never handed off. Outside the clinic, Sarah enjoys strength training and traveling.

If arthritis has your knees, hips, or shoulders aching, resting more is rarely the answer. Strength training for osteoarthritis is one of the most effective, low risk ways to reduce pain and stay active. Building strength around an arthritic joint takes pressure off cartilage, improves joint stability, and raises your pain threshold over time.
Our latest post covers the types of strengthening that help most, including progressive resistance training, functional movements like sit to stands and step ups, and knee osteoarthritis exercises that target the hips and glutes. You will also find guidance on frequency, sets and reps, safe progression, and how to tell the difference between normal post exercise soreness and pain that means you should modify.
Wondering whether physical therapy for osteoarthritis is right for you? Our Chicago physical therapists provide one on one care in River North, and Illinois direct access means you can start without a physician referral. Read the full post.
